The best way to go to Brooklyn Bridge Park is via NYC Ferry, although you can always stroll across the iconic bridge; there are six piers with eight playgrounds; a sports area with basketball, biking, handball, kayaking, Ping-Pong, roller skating, pickleball, running, soccer, and volleyball; picnicking with grilling for large groups; the historic Jane’s Carousel; a fancy new restroom building; and numerous spots to grab a drink, lunch or dinner, and ice cream (omg, OddFellows’ Vegan Coconut Mango Sticky Rice). It’s also a great place to take a walk among rocks, flowers, and trees, communing with the environment even as you gaze at the hustle and bustle of Lower Manhattan across the East River.
In addition, BBP is home to exciting public art, including Tom Fruin’s permanent Watertower and, through March 8, 2026, Chicago-born, Beacon-based Torkwase Dyson’s Public Art Fund commission Akua, an open pavilion constructed of angled, powder-coated steel and aluminum with benches to sit on and reflect as an eight-channel soundscape of electronics, nature, and conversations wafts in the air. Meanwhile, through August 30, Kinfolk Tech’s Dreaming with the Archives is an AR exhibition with site-specific virtual works by Olalekan Jeyifous, Hank Willis Thomas, Ari Melenciano, Kiyan Williams, Wangechi Mutu, and Jeremiah Ojo that come to life on your phone.
