important note — venue change for twi-ny’s twenty-fifth anniversary celebration at the coffee house club
Wow! We are sold out for the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration of This Week in New York: The Insider’s Guide to the City at the Coffee House Club at 3 West Fifty-First St. on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:30. Be sure to get there ahead of time for a special experience.
Note that the event is not taking place at 47 Fifth Ave. but instead has moved to the Pratt Lounge at the 3 West Club because of the demand.
The evening will feature a panel discussion on the past, present, and future of live performance in New York City, with three esteemed guests: director, filmmaker, choreographer, and dancer par excellence Jody Oberfelder, who will present a site-specific piece with members of her company; playwright Sara Farrington, who will read an excerpt from her indispensable Theater Is Hard Substack; and concert pianist extraordinaire Harriet Stubbs BEM, who will play selections from her highly acclaimed album Living on Mars.
When I started This Week in New York (twi-ny) as an email to a handful of friends and relatives back in May 2001, I never imagined that it would be going stronger than ever twenty-five years later, expanding to a website, Instagram, and Substack.
Here’s a look at twi-ny’s tenth anniversary show, held at Fontana’s on the Lower East Side:
And here’s the twentieth anniversary gala, held online during the pandemic lockdown:
I can’t wait to make new memories with all of you at the twenty-fifth anniversary on June 3.
